Whack up the contrast on your monitor to maximum and then adjust the brightness to suit.  This is standard advice for viewing images on a computer screen.

This site is written for a minimum of 800 x 600 screen resolution and 24-bit colour.  To change either your screen resolution or the colour depth, do a right-click on an empty area of your screen, choose Properties and then the Settings tab.  Alternatively, go through Start/Settings/Control Panel/Display/Settings (Windows 95 and above).

browsers

This site has been written for Internet Explorer 4 but works equally well with Netscape Communicator 4.5 and other version 4 browsers and above.  If you have switched Show Images off, you will no doubt have discovered that doing so is not the best way to view this site.

javascript

If there are grey boxes showing, then you are not seeing java and javascript actions.  In Internet Explorer, go Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and check every option which looks remotely java-related.
