faqs sections THE FREE WEB PORTFOLIO HOW DOES THE FREE WEB PORTFOLIO WORK?
Some people are delighted to have a web portfolio so that family and friends across the world can see their wedding online. Others might prefer not to have their wedding exposed to a potentially worldwide audience. The choice is yours. If you choose not to have the web portfolio on offer, this does not affect the cost. The web portfolio of a minimum of 20 images from your wedding basically amounts to a free 'throw in' inducement and it is up to you whether you wish to take advantage of this or not. Another reason I do not charge for the web portfolio is that I benefit from having promotional material on my website through clients' portfolios and I wish to encourage this, of course. If you exercise this option in advance, I shall scan many images, from which you can choose the 20 or so for the web portfolio. I shall bring thumbnail printouts of the scans with me when I deliver the photographs to you and leave them for you to consider at your leisure. You have complete control and veto over the content of the web portfolio and can select other photographs if you disagree with my broad selection. All the scans taken for you to choose from will also be recorded to CD, so you can view them on a computer screen or use them as background wallpaper, etc. Only your first names and the locations appear in your portfolio. No surnames, address or other identifying details appear. My only other rule is that the 'click-through' cover image, which leads into your portfolio from the main wedding pages, must be a colour image in landscape format and must feature the bride within it. Your free web portfolio will be placed within this website for one year from the date of your wedding. However, this is a minimum understanding. The likelihood is that it will stay online for an unspecified amount of time, as I actively wish to have clients' weddings displayed on my website. You can request deletion of your portfolio, changes to it or changes to any incidental images used elsewhere on my website at any time. The free web portfolio will be written for version 4 browsers to ensure wide compatibility with users and will not use any plug-ins like Flash or Shockwave. The minimum size for each image is 300 x 200 pixels. As this is a freebie, it is not possible to alter the structure and look of the standard templates I have set up. If you wish to customise the format of your portfolio, present any other information about your wedding (eg, your guest list, your own commentary, personal and family details, etc), have a password-protected area or even have your own wedding website, please let me know. These variations will be chargeable.
No. They are only subject to minor pixel repair after the scanning process and any necessary adjustments (colour balance, levels, contrast, etc) so that they reflect the original photographs as best they can on an average monitor. It is my deliberate intention to show on the web what I was able to give clients as full-frame 9" x 6" prints.
